Whether you are after a picturesque bushland camping spot or peaceful coastal campground, the Central Coast is place like no other
There is such a variety of low cost places to camp where you can pitch a tent or park a caravan.

The Central Coat offers a range of wonderful campgrounds, from basic and beautiful to a little more luxe. But whichever campground you choose to stay at, there is a real opportunity to get among nature and settle into the relaxed vibe the Central Coast is so well known for.

Putty Beach, Killcare

Nested steps away from the beach, Putty Beach Campground is the largest of Bouddi National Park camping areas at Killcare Heights. The ideally located campsite has space for 6 tents and there are toilets, showers and BBQ facilities nearby. Surrounded by nature, with the gentle wash of the waves hitting the beach, you’ll want to start you day with a swim or walk along the quiet beach. Follow the Bouddi coastal walk along the cliff top and if you are here between May and November, look out for the migrating whales.

Tallow Beach, Box Head

Tallow Beach campground near at Box Head near Killcare, and in Bouddi National Park is a remote and picturesque campground. It’s only small, accommodating 6 tents but the campground is just metres from beach allowing you to truly immerse yourself in nature. With a bit of a hike to access the campground from the carpark, the 1.2km walking track take you down a steep gravel fire trail but the scenic track is worth the strenuous walk.  You'll need to take all your camping equipment with you, there is no power or water. Pets are not permitted, and campfires are not allowed. Please take all your rubbish with you. 

The campground offers close access to Tallow Beach, a great place for swimming, surfing, fishing and walking. While you are there explore the surrounding bushwalking tracks, such as the Box Head Walking Track that takes you through the red gum bushland or take a walk through the stunning Flannel Flower Walking Track.

Little Beach, Bouddi

Another little gem that sits within Bouddi National Park and is a stone’s throw away from Bouddi’s Coastal Walk and Little Beach itself, is Little Beach campground. This secluded campground offers 6 marked unpowered sites and is suitable for seasoned campers looking for a quiet and relaxed coastal escape right by the beach.

To access the campground, you’ll have to travel by foot with your camp gear, only a short 750m walk from Grahame Drive where you can park your car. The campground has free use of their BBQ facilities, however note there is no power or fresh drinking water available onsite, so you’ll need to bring your own.

Open fires are not permitted and check in after 2pm and checkout by 10am.

Frazer campground, Frazer Beach

A little secluded campground perched next to Frazer Beach, is perfect for a peaceful weekend away boasting mesmerising coastal views. Located at Frazer Park, at Munmorah State Conservation Area, Frazer campground has 6 unpowered marked tent sites. There are toilets, cold showers and picnic tables nearby. While there is no electricity, the barbecues are operated by LP gas and are free to use. The campground is step-free although there are no pathways so people with reduced mobility may need assistance.

Frazer beach is a good spot for strong swimmers and has extremely strong rips. It is only patrolled during the Christmas and Easter school holidays. Please exercise caution before entering the water. Lake Munmorah offers a calmer place for kiddies to play in the water.

The campground is a gated access and operates between 5.30am-9pm during Spring and Summer, and 5.30am-7pm during the Autumn and Winter months. Check in after 2pm and checkout by 10am.

Freemans Camping Area, Munmorah State Conservation Area

Situated at Munmorah State Conservation Area, Freemans Campground offers a relaxing camping escape. Surrounded with bushland, and a grassy covering, the 39-site campground has ample space for trailers, caravans and tents. While there are showers at the site, they are cold showers only.

Birdie Beach is a short leisurely stroll away and is well known for is long sandy beach. Laze on the beach or go for a hike at the Palm Circuit Track or Moonee Beach Trail which both start nearby.

The campground is a gated access and operates between 5.30am-9pm during Spring and Summer, and 5.30am-7pm during the Autumn and Winter months. Check in after 2pm and checkout by 10am.

Ten Mile Hollow Campground, Ten Mile Hollow

Stay within the Upper Mangrove region for a tranquil camping experience. Ten Mile Hollow Campground is a secluded campground located in Dharug National Park, only accessible by foot or bike. This campground is a great choice for those needing a place to camp overnight when completing part of the World Heritage listed Old Great North Road.

There are toilets and free BBQ facilities available to use, and drinking water is available, however can be limited at times so keep this in mind when visiting.  Open fires are also permitted but check fire restrictions before lighting.

Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary, Calga

Ideal for a camping trip with a large group of friends and offering a unique stay, Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary offers exclusive campsite hire for 10 or more guests. Located within the grounds of this wildlife park in Calga, each safari tent can fit 2-4 people per tent. Your booking fee includes all-day entry from 9:30am to 5pm to visit the animals, as well as access to explore the sanctuary at night and witness their nocturnal animals in their habitat.

This campground has a camp kitchen fit with wifi, electricity, a microwave, gas BBQ, access to cold water and a fenced eating area. There is also a toilet block and 4 hot water showers available, only a 1-minute walk from the camp site. Small campfires are also permitted, only in safe weather and must be extinguished by 10pm during summer and 8pm during winter.

Check in from 3-4pm and check out by 10am.

Glenworth Valley Wilderness Adventures, Glenworth Valley

If your friends or family are looking for a campground situated amongst natural bush wilderness and close enough to a bunch of activities to do during your stay, take a look at the campgrounds at Glenworth Valley Wilderness Adventures. This campground is suitable for tents, RV’s campers and caravans, and even has pre-arranged glamping tents on site if this is more your style. The campgrounds have free hot showers, toilets and running water to use, as well as an onsite kiosk to grab brekkie or any food and camping essentials.

There’s a bunch to do at Glenworth Valley. Flowing throughout the grounds, take a swim in Popran Creek, a stroll and visit the nearby paddocks filled with their resident horses or book quad biking, laser skirmish, kayaking, abseiling, axe throwing and horse riding. If there’s a few activities you’d like to do, check out their bundle packages. Don’t forget on weekends meet and greet their farm animals for their feeding sessions at 4pm and see their Running of the Horses at 4:30pm.
